All the aspiring actors and the established people in this field would know this very well. Owing to the scenes we are going to perform if there are any sequences where we need to shed our tears glycerin is instilled in the eyes, which comes out as tears. This has been a known practice for so many years as we all know. My question is has anyone come across scientific findings that the process is ultimately safe for the health of the eyes. Maybe we might develop problems in the long run. I am also an aspiring student of the film and acting school but I need to get these answers verified. I hope you would appreciate my question with suiting answers.

I have my own eye problems but this question leads me to share what I know. Though I confess in the beginning this has been simply heard by me and I have no such evidences to prove my statements are justified. I have known the glycerin is actually suited well for the eyes and this was told to me by one of the actors who owing to the films have to apply the same for false tears. If artificial ones are good then would there be any reason why the natural ones are going to be unsafe for us.
