Shape of things to come?
In times past science held that the Cosmos, if it moved, rotated round its center and most important point, the Earth. This absurd and now obsolete theory was called geocentricity.
Having moved on it is time to consider a similarly absurd theory, and candidate for obsolescence, genocentricity . The ideas that the human race is the central and most important point round which rotate Nature and all of organic life. A large part of science is dedicated to this postulate, one of the many reasons that science is floundering and subject of much distrust. Profit is the motive that drives many branches of science.
As the Biologist U de Vries pointed out - " that in any applied science like agriculture & genetics, economics takes precedence over science." - He understood as do Monsanto and other genetic modifiers of foods that " what is profitable affects or even determines, what is scientifically true.”
For many years antibiotics, being profitable, were used indiscriminately, to leave us with damaged immune systems and monstrous organisms which can adapt in short order, to use antibiotic as food!
The contortions of Medical Science to dance to the tune of those who pay the piper - the -Pharmaceutical giants such as Glaxo and its like - is bathos personified.
Perhaps we need to consider the concept of the 'human motel’. A creation of Nature - devised as an ambulatory motel, for the multifarious microorganisms that make up the diversity of biological life.
We have evolved to provide an area that. virus, bacteria etc, can check into , have a refreshing shower , change their clothes [ or mutate ] , multiply and - refreshed , check out and go on their merry way. Spreading out each time we sneeze, kiss, make love, and act as broadcaster of their progeny.
Each time they meet in a 'motel' they chat, swap bits of DNA//RNA - on the basis that this new trick will protect their friends as they also mutate and move on in a never ending round of the dynamic symbiosis that is life.
So chicken pox will now and again mutate into smallpox, neisseria catharralis will mutate into meningitis, etc, etc ad infinitum. TB, predates the human race and will probably he around long after it has become extinct. But life will go on forever.
Some 25 yrs ago I said that, in order to stop MRSA we should eliminate those medical personnel who were carriers of MRSA in the mucal surface of their throats. I then realized that this was an impossible demand, as we should decimate the number of people who were qualified to work in a hospital and make the Health Service unworkable!
People are of course, only human. It is not really surprising that medical staff of all kinds indulge in oral sex. And it was this road that herpes took many years ago. The result was genital herpes. Now, on a website we have people complaining about genital MRSA!
So while we sit sipping our tea, beer, cocktail – over the surface of the earth – there are almost innumerable couples engaged in assisting the spread of MRSA [of the genital variety] .It is possible to think that the micro-organisms consider the human race as a useful resource, as an aid to the spread of their particular variety of life.
As it was antibiotics that created MRSA it is unlikely that a new antibiotic will do other than create an even more effective and lethal form of the microorganism. MRSA is ‘intelligent ‘ enough to realize that it must not kill the carrier, as that would limit its possibilities of spreading.
I quote a posting on a website relating to the fact that MRSA is now to be considered a STD [ sexually transmitted disease ] ;-
“ My problem started the very day I had sex with my girlfriend. That evening, I noticed 3 sharp itching on my private parts. It was followed by serious itching all over my body, with frequent sneezing, blocked nose, nosy breathing sound, moving sensation from my head downwards, darkening of my lips and my body appeared pale. I thought I was an allergic reaction. So, I went for allergy test. Nothing was discovered, instead I continued to have hives, red spots, itching and my body looking dry and chalky white with small pimple-like rashes on my face and upper part of my two arms. After a few months, I started having burning sensation during the day with lots of sweating (Being over sensitive to heat or hot environment) and profuse sweating at night while sleeping. During this time, I never had any serious fever, or headache or diarrhea, I constantly had stomach cramp and itchy anus. I gained more weight and had inflammation of my face (especially my cheeks). At this stage, I was afraid. So, I went to a doctor to complain about these symptoms. He conducted many medical tests such as HIV and other STDs. I only tested positive to discovered Virginal Trichomonasis, Ascaris, flagelleta and Staphylococcus Aureus . However ,he gave me drugs for bacterial, fungal and infections and (metronidazole) and antihistamine tablets. All these helped to lessen the symptoms but they did not clear away completely. Today, I still have some of these symptoms together with frequent tiredness or fatigue accompanied with malaise, cold and infrequent diarrhea. I have taken several antibiotics. But I have not been cured. “
There was some research quoted in the book by Barrington – ‘Hormones and Evolution ‘ E.U.P Lond. In this work --- “Another illustration is the opercular “window “ through which the forelimbs emerge. Thyroxine evokes a THICKENING of most of the epidermis, an adaption to the terrestrial life of metamorphosis. Where the window is to form, it evokes a THINNING of the epidermis. Thus epidermal cells that are apparently identical, gives opposite responses to the hormone. – The hormone evokes the response :the CELL DEFINES WHAT THAT RESPONSE SHALL BE”.
So there MUST BE a sense of geographical location. An awareness of position in the total geography of the body, and the function implied by that position. So that one cell gets thinner and its neighbor gets thicker, both reactions being powered by the same hormone.
