Hi,
I am wandering dose somebody know how to purify Luminol (3-Aminophthalic Hydrazide). This compound is used to produce bioluminescence. It is appears that intensity of luminescence is depends on Luminol purity. But, the point is how to get luminol of a high or ultra purity.

I will appreciate name of the company who can sale such high or ultra “clean” luminol.

Thank you.

haha

hey free radical i think me and you are the only ones posting.

i suppose you could do a buffer exhange of the material if it is already reconstituted. since it is an amino hydrazide you could use something like 0.1M MES with 150 mM NaCl at ph 5.5. then it will be ready for use, just add EDC and your probe and you're in business. if it is in powder form, i guess you could go old school style and just distill or recrystalize it a buncha times. im no expert on purification, just have some experience with hydrazides. after conjugation i would do another buffer exchange into pbs or something more neutral to close off that hydrazide linker.
